Oshawott^{(JPJapanese: ミジュマル

Romaji: Mijumaru)} is a species of Pokémon in the series of the same name. It is a Water Pokémon that made its first appearance in the fifth generation as a First partner Pokémon in Pokémon Black and White. It evolves in Dewott starting at level 17. It is also a first partner in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Oshawott is also playable in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity and Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon. The player may choose to be transformed into Oshawott, or have the partner be one.

Super Smash Bros.[]

Oshawott appears as a Poké Ball summon in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It behaves similarly to Piplup in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

In the anime[]

Ash Ketchum owned an Oshawott. He began to admire Ash and decided to leave the lab and follow him wherever he went. He then rescued Ash and Iris from Team Rocket in Enter Iris and Axew!. In A Sandile Gusher of Change!, he officially joined Ash's party.

Origin and inspiration[]

Oshawott is based on a sea otter pup and samurai.

Trivia[]

Oshawott is the only starter Pokémon in Legends: Arceus to not have either of its evolution levels changed, as they were already 17 and 36, which the other two starters changed to in order to match.
In December 2021, Oshawott was appointed the Pokémon ambassador for Mie Prefecture.^[1]
