Octarian

An Octoling a subspecies of the Octarians

The Octarians, are the main antagonists of the story mode in Splatoon and Splatoon 2. They lives in Octo Valley, and are the ones responsible for stealing the Zapfish from Inkopolis. Their ink colour is a dark shade of purple, a color not available in the online mode of Splatoon.Aside from the Octolings and DJ Octavio all the members of the Octarians spices resemble severed tentacles of octopi.

History

At firs the Octarians and the Inklings were not enemies but the raising sea levels forced them to battle against each other for the prosperity of their own species during The Great Turf War, they initialy won with the help of the Great Octoweapons but the weapons were ultimately deactivated.

They were then forced to live underground in a environement made with spheres connected with each other, this construction was known as Octo Valley but as their electrical power became scarce they turned their sights to the Inklings and their source of energy: The Great Zapfish, which led to the event of the first Splatoon. They were ultimately defeated by Agent 3 and Cap'n Cuttlefish.

In Splatoon 2, DJ Octavio and the Octarians try to get their revenge by kidnapping Callie and the Great Zapfish while Agent 3 and Cap'n Cuttlefish are away. Marie recruits Agent 4 and manage to take the Great Zapfish back and free Callie from DJ Octavio's mind control.

Meanwhile, Commander Tartar at the head of a company named Kamabo was preparing to recreate the world to fit the vision of his late creator. Tartar hated most of the sentient lifeforms that came after the humans because they were as flawed as their predecessors. Tatar invented a method that let him suppress the individuality of most creature, this was used mostly on Octarian, turning them into what was called the Sanitized Octarians.
