Baby Bowser Baby Bowser first appeared in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. He is basically the younger version of King Bowser, as the game takes place in the past.
Baby Luigi The baby version of Luigi. He first appeared in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island where he was kidnapped by Kamek and Baby Bowser. He would later on be a playable character in games such as Mario Kart: Double Dash‼ and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.
Baby Mario The baby version of Mario. He first appeared in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island where he and Yoshi went off to save Baby Luigi.
Birdo Birdo first appeared in Doki Doki Panic, a non-Mario game. However, the character would later appear in the remake of the game which did in-fact feature Mario characters, and would then be a playable character in other games.
Bowser The primary antagonist of the series, first appearing in Super Mario Bros. In almost every game in the paramount series he kidnaps Princess Peach.
Bowser Jr. Bowser's son, presumably the youngest of his eight known ones. He made his debut in Super Mario Sunshine.
Cappy His original appearance is similar to a Boo with a white top hat as its face. It is white with little arms and a ghost trail. He has two large eyes with red irises and a tuft of bluish hair on top. In hat form, it takes the appearance of Mario's hat at the time with its two eyes appearing at times.
Princess Daisy Daisy first appeared in Super Mario Land where she was the damsel in distress. She was kidnapped by Tatanga and would later be rescued by Mario. She is the ruler of Sarassaland and later appeared in Mario spinoffs.
Petey Piranha
They are large Piranha Plant, and one of the first bosses in Super Mario Sunshine. Since then he has become a regular boss character in many other Mario titles, such as Mario Pinball LandMario & Luigi: Partners in TimeSuper Princess PeachNew Super Mario Bros., and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He has also played a role in the games Mario Kart: Double Dash‼Mario Strikers ChargedMario Golf: Toadstool TourMario Superstar Baseball, and Mario Power Tennis. He has multiple special powers that set him apart from normal Piranha Plants, including spitting Goop and flying. He also appears as a playable character in Mario Super Sluggers, and he is in the strength group.
Geno One of the most popular Mario-RPG characters. He first appeared in Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
King Boo The antagonist of Luigi's Mansion and a boss in other titles as well such as Super Mario Sunshine. The Boo is, as his name implies, the king over all the Boos.
Luigi One of the protagonists of the Mario series, and Mario's twin brother. He first appeared in Mario Bros.. He has a few characteristics that contradict Mario's, such as being a bit cowardly, wearing green clothing, being taller and basically looking a bit different, among other features.
Mario The paramount protagonist of the series, and unarguably the most popular video game character. He's Nintendo's mascot and has been dubbed "Mr. Video Game". He first appeared in Donkey Kong on the arcades as Jumpman, though would later be known as Mario.
Nabbit A thief that has most of the time an antagonistic role
Pauline The first damsel in distress in the series, first appearing in Donkey Kong. She would later resurface with the release of Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis. In Super Mario Odyssey, she becomes the mayor of New Donk City.
Princess Peach One of the more popular characters in the series. She first appeared in Super Mario Bros. where she was kidnapped by Bowser as she was the only one who was capable of reversing his black magic which he cast upon the land of the Mushroom Kingdom. She is the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom and the most notable damsel in distress in not only the series, but probably in all of gaming.
Professor E. Gadd A scientist who first appeared in Luigi's Mansion. He's created various inventions throughout the Mario series, such as a time machine, the Poltergust 3000, and various doo-dads in Mario Party Advance.
Rosalina The princess who appeared in Super Mario Galaxy. She wasn't a "damsel-in-distress", but was rather the operator of the Observatory and the "mother" of the Luma.
Toad The loyal servant of Princess Peach who does his best to protect her though he is often kidnapped as much as she is. Toad made his debut appearance in Super Mario Bros. as one of the Mushroom Retainers though his true debut was in Super Mario Bros. 2 as a playable character. Toad is also the name of the species that the character belongs to and they all appear very similar in appearance as the character Toad as well.
She is a female Toad who first appeared in the Nintendo GameCube video game Mario Kart: Double Dash‼. In the game, she was an unlockable character, with Toad as her counterpart.
He is an elderly Toad who is Princess Peach's loyal servant. As such, he is very concerned about her safety and worries about her constantly. He acts as a father figure to her and is constantly seen fussing about her well being. Toadsworth also prides himself on being polite as he maintains good manners even if faced with a rude or insulting person.
Waluigi A greedy character who first appeared in Mario Tennis where he was a friend or cousin of Wario's. Not much is known about the character's history.
Wario A character whose greediness gets him into a lot of trouble. He is unarguably one of the most famous characters in the series, and his first game appearance - Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, was just the starting point. He would later get his own series of video games that ranged from platformers to mini-game titles.
Yoshi The lovable dinosaur who first appeared in Super Mario World, where he would assist Mario and Luigi on their quest to save Dinosaur Island and the princess. His abilities were so popular that he got his own series of games.

The Legend of Zelda series

Character Information
Link The silent protagonist of the series. He first appeared in The Legend of Zelda. There are multiple incarnations of Link, though all of them take on a simple set of clothing which consists of a green tunic. In the series he has the bearer of the Triforce of Courage.
Princess Zelda Princess Zelda is the ruler over Hyrule and a descendant of the Goddess Hylia who reincarnated as the first Zelda. She has appeared in some form in every Zelda game, though like Link there are multiple incarnations of the character.She is the bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom
Ganon (dorf) Ganon is the primary antagonist of the series. He is the incarnation of the Demise's hatred, he lusts to have power over the world and attempts to do so through his quest to come in possession of all the triforce shards. He is the bearer of the Triforce of Power
Epona Link's trusty steed who first appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Tingle An odd creature who first appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, where he would do nothing more than sell Link maps. He would later become an either popular or hated character throughout the series, even getting a game of his own.
Impa The chief of the Sheikah and Zelda's servant

Metroid series

Character Information
Kraid A large hulking boss creature who first appeared in Metroid. He's one of the many allies of the Space Pirates, and is usually considered a guardian of specific objects in the series. While in most games to date he is huge, he was originally Samus' height.
Mother Brain The primary antagonist of the first Metroid.
Ridley Considered the paramount antagonist of the series. He first appeared in the original Metroid as a secondary boss, though would later become more popular and would take on the role as the final boss through many games. He resembles a dragon of some sort and is allied with the Space Pirates.
Samus Aran The female protagonist of the series. She's appeared in every Metroid game to-date as the playable character. She's guarded by powerful armor created by the Chozo, and is the most famous bounty hunter in the series.
Adam Malkovich
Metroid Prime/Dark Samus A highly mutated Metroid that was the source of Phazon on Tallon IV before merging with Samus' Phazon Suit and recreating a body from her DNA. The newly born Dark Samus then serves as the main antagonist of most of the Metroid Prime series.

Donkey Kong series

Character Information
Diddy Kong Donkey Kong's primary sidekick in the series. He first appeared in Donkey Kong Country and went on to star in many other titles.
Donkey Kong The protagonist of the series. He first appeared in Donkey Kong as the antagonist, though would later be a bit more friendly.

King K. Rool The leader of the Kremlings and the main antagonist of most of the Donkey Kong game, he is considered to be Donkey Kong's arch enemy.
Tiki Tong The leader of the Tiki Tak Tribe and the main antagonist of Donkey Kong Country Returns. He wanted to steal all the bananas of Donkey Kong's island to create more of his kind.
Lord Fredrik The leader of the Snowmads, a tribe of Vikings who travel across the sea to conquer new land and turn them into frozen paradises with their magic. He serves as the main antagonist of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

Kirby series

Character Information
King Dedede King Dedede is the rival of the kirby and the self-proclaimed ruler of Dream Land. He was the main antagonist of the main game before being defeated by Kirby and proclaiming him as his rival. Dedede often tries to protect his kingdom from outside threat, which leads him to being possessed by some entity and forced to face Kirby in battle. When Dedede is not under the control of the main antagonist, he usually side with Kirby to defeat any threat to Dream Land's peace.
Kirby The pink star warrior of Dream Land. He's only eight inches tall, though he has an undeniable appetite for everything. Not only that, but he can also "copy" his opponent's abilities and is said to wield infinite power.
Meta Knight Meta Knight is a mysterious knight who appears to be from the same species as Kirby, he usually serves as Kirby's mentor and test him to know if he is powerful enough to defeat bigger threats. Like Dedede, he is often possessed by the enemy and is forced to fight Kirby against his will.
Bandana Waddle Dee A master spearman who originally served as Dedede's second in command. He then became part of Kirby's crew and is often considered as the fourth main character of the Kirby series, being one of the most recurrent character in the series and often being playable alongside Dedede and Meta Knight. Outside of his playable appearances, Bandana Waddle Dedede takes on a more supporting role and give useful items to Kirby when they meet.

F-Zero series

Character Information
Captain Falcon The most notable racer in the series. He first appeared in F-Zero and has ever since been a popular choice among players.
Samurai Goroh Captain Falcon's archenemy. He was disbanded from the police force long ago and has since then become a bounty hunter. He first appeared in F-Zero along with the Falcon.

Fire Emblem series

Character Information
Marth The protagonist of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem and the main representative of the series. He leads the war to save Archanea from the clutches of Medeus
Ike The protagonist of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. He's a blue haired warrior who'll eventually become the commander of the Greil Mercenaries.
Robin The avatar for Fire Emblem: Awakening who helps lead the Shepherds as they protect Ylisse from its various enemies.
Lucina A future princess of Ylisse that returns to the past to prevent the rise of Grima
Corrin The protagonist and avatar of Fire Emblem Fates. He/she is a prince/princess of Nohr who discovers he was originally a prince/princess of Hoshido and is split between the conflict of the warring nations

Star Fox series

Character Information
Andross The main antagonist of the series. He is a scientist that was exiled from Corneria for his morally questionable experiment and gathered an army to take over the Lylat system from Venom in retaliation and rule over it as emperor.
Falco Lombardi The ace pilot of the Star Fox team. He is seen as arrogant, but is also second in command.
Fox McCloud The protagonist of the series. He first appeared in Star Fox for the SNES, where he was the leader of the team.
Slippy Toad The Mechanic of the Star Fox team. He tends to get in trouble and needs the others to rescue him.

Character Information
Pokémon Trainer There's not an official name for this particular character, whom you'll control. You're allowed to chose his or her name in the series. He or she first appeared in Pokémon Red and Blue for the Game Boy.

Mother series

Character Information
Lucas The protagonist of Mother 3. He's a blond haired kid who slightly resembles the characters from the previous games.
Ness The protagonist of Earthbound. He resembles Ninten from Mother, though is actually a different character. His name is a reference to the SNES, the console the game was released on, as it is his name, just rearranged.
Ninten The protagonist of the first game in the series - Mother. His name is a shortened version of "Nintendo".
Giygas The main antagonist of the first game and one of the final boss of the second, he is an alien who was raised by humans before they betrayed his race, forcing him to go and destroy them. He is eventually defeated for good in Earthbound.
Porky Minch The main antagonist of the third game and one of the two antagonists of the second game. He is a 10 years old selfish kid who betray humanity to serves as Giygas' second in command up until Giygas is not able to think anymore, from there Porky sees him as a weapon and nothing more, he unleash him on the protagonists but is forced to flee by traveling through time after the alien's defeat. He is eventually shut down from every timeline and end up in the Nowhere Islands with his body now unable to die, he keeps the appearance of a kid while having the features of an old man. He then start his plan to rule over the Nowhere Island as a supreme emperor.

Pikmin series

Character Information
Captain Olimar The protagonist of the series. He first appeared in Pikmin where his ship crash landed on PNF-404. There, he found odd creatures called Pikmin who would help him rebuild his ship so that he could escape the planet.
Louie Louie is Olimar's clumsy partner. He has a big appetite for Pikpik Carrots, thus making him responsible of the events of Pikmin 2. He is also said to be able to communicate with insects and is said to have been the one to control the Titan Dweevil during the final battle of this game, which arguably makes him the antagonist of Pikmin 2. He also fulfil a similar role in Pikmin 3 where he is nothing but trouble for the S.S. Drake's crew.
President of Hocotate Freight The President of Hocotate Freight and Olimar's boss. He travel alongside Olimar on a mission to rescue Louie and find more treasures once the debt of the company has been repaid. Despite all the money they made in Pikmin 2, Olimar reveal in Pikmin 3 that the President somehow managed to loose all this money between the games and tha now Louie and himself were left to do the dirty work since the President is in vacation.
Alph One of the three protagonists of Pikmin 3. He is the engineer of the S.S Drake and admire Captain Charlie.
Brittany One of the three protagonists of Pikmin 3. She is a botanist that was sent on a mission to PNF-404 with the intent of finding enough fruits to save Koppai from starvatiion.
Captain Charlie One of the three protagonists of Pikmin 3. He is the captain of the S.S. Drake and the leader of the expedition, he often act before thinking.

Animal Crossing series

Mr. Resetti The mole who popped up each time the player resets the game without saving. In New Horizons, he is implied to be the dispatcher for the Rescue Service.

He is a Mars Adept from Vale. He is hot-tempered and acts without thinking. He is first introduced in Golden Sun.


He is a Jupiter Adept from Congito/Kalay. He is sensible, intelligent and balances out Garet. He is the third member of your party in Golden Sun.


She is a Mercury Adept and healer from Imil. She is the last member to join your party in Golden Sun.

He is a Mercury Adept from Lemuria and captain of your ship. He is the only Playable character not introduced in the first game.

Kid Icarus series

Character Information
Pit The protagonist of the series. He is the leader of Palutena's forces but is unable to fly by himself, the power of the light Goddess is what allows him to fly up to five minutes at a time.
Palutena Palutena is the Goddess of Light and the source of Pit's power, her role is to protect humanity from any potential threats.
Medusa The Goddess of Darkness and the main antagonist of the original Kid Icarus
Hades The sarcastic ruler of the Underworld and the true main antagonist in Kid Icarus: Uprising.
Dark Pit A clone of pit created by Pandora's mirror of truth, he serves as an anti hero in Uprising.
Viridi The human hating Goddess of nature, she firstly appears as an antagonist but later become a supportive character.

Shulk The protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles, he is the wielder of the divine sword called the Monado and vow to use it against the Mechons who attacked his home.
Reyn One of Shulk's childhood friends as well as a playable character in Xenoblade Chronicles, he is a soldier of Colony 9 and decides to follow shulk in his quest
Fiora One of Shulk's childhood friends as well as a playable character in Xenoblade Chronicles, she is deeply in love with shulk even if he doesn't seem to notice it.
Dunban The big brother of Fiora as well as a playable character in Xenoblade Chronicles, Dunban is a war hero as well as the former user of the Monado, he is generally seen as a father figure for the group.
Sharla A medic from Colony 6 as well as a playable character in Xenoblade Chronicles, Sharla joined the group to avenge those who fell during the attack of Colony 6 by the Mechons
Melia The princess of the High Entia as well as a playable character in Xenoblade Chronicles, Melia joined the group to avenge her father who was killed by Metal Face, she is also in love with Shulk.
Riki The Heropon of Frontier Village as well as a playable character in Xenoblade Chronicles, Riki is a nopon who was indebted due to his many children's ravenous appetite, he joined the group in hope of clearing his debts.
Zanza/Klaus/The Architect Zanza is the true main antagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles, he is a god that is trying to reset the world in which the protagonists lives killing almost any lifeform in the process. In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, it is revealed that Zanza is the evil half of Klaus, the human from Earth who created the universe of the first game and led his world to ruin. With the power of The Conduit, he was able to become an immortal deity and started recreating life on Earth who would be called Alrest by its new inhabitants.
Dickson Shulk's foster father as well as a secondary antagonist in Xenoblade Chronicles, Dickson is one of Zanza's disciples that is tought to be a supportive character during most of the game.
Lorithia The leader of Alcamoth's ministry of research as well as a secondary antagonist in Xenoblade Chronicles, Lorithia is one of Zanza's disciples that want to attain eternal life through helping God.
Alvis/Ontos Alvis is one of the three computers responsible for the creation of the universe of the first game. He acts as a secondary antagonist by helping Zanza during the game but in the end, his true loyalty belongs to Shulk and his group. The Monado is an extension of his being and gives the power of turning thought into reality to those who are deemed worthy by Alvis.
