   Marina Ida is a reoccurring character in the Splatoon series. A former Octoling fighter who defected after the events of the first game, she became a member of Off the Hook with the Inkling Pearl. The group was featured in Splatoon 2 and hosts their own television show, similar to the Squid Sisters from the first game. The two also make prominent appearances in the Splatoon 2 DLC Octo Expansion as well as the Splatoon 3 DLC Side Order.

In the mature-rated music video for the Tenacious D song Video Games, an animated version of Jack Black is seen dressed as many different video game characters, including Link from The Legend of Zelda series. He is also seen as Mario and grabs a Super Mushroom. The music video was directed by Adam Paloian, who worked on The Cuphead Show.
- 2008: Disney announces a new program for their Walt Disney World parks that gives people who bring their Nintendo DS with them the chance to have a virtual tour of each of the four parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom).
