The Legend of Zelda Timeline is the name given to the official chronology of The Legend of Zelda series. First revealed to the public in Hyrule Historia a book released in 2011 for the 25th anniversary of the series, the chronology was created over the years by Eiji Aonuma, the director of the Zelda series, and a lot of it was in fact revealed before Hyrule Historia, but the book itself serves as a mean to clarify the place of each game in the chronology. The timeline has since been updated with every game that released post Hyrule Historia.

"Mm... My research isn’t complete yet, but there’s no mistaking the power the Sacred Stones contain. And the Stone of Grado seems especially responsive to my dark magic. I suppose it’s because it contains both sacred and demonic properties. Regardless, if I can just press my studies a little harder... Well, I think I might be able to use it to heal my father’s illness. If that works, there’s no telling how many other people I can help as well."
—Lyon in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
"Taking a hostage is perfectly fine as a bargaining tactic!"
