The Nintendo Switch Dock is an accessory included with the Nintendo Switch. The dock allows the Nintendo Switch console to connect to a TV and charges the console. The Nintendo Switch Lite is incompatible with this accessory. In 2021, a revised version will launch with the OLED Model that replaces a USB port with an Ethernet port.
Features[]
The Nintendo Switch Dock includes a USB-C connector to connect to the Nintendo Switch, a USB-C port for the AC Adapter, a HDMI out port to connect to the TV and 3 USB ports for accessories and charging cables. The USB-C port, the HDMI port and one of the USB ports are contained in the back of the dock behind the cover with a hole on the right side for cable management. The other USB ports are located on the left side of the dock. There is a light on the lower left side of the front of the dock to indicate if the Switch is connected to the television.
2021 Revision[]
The 2021 revision is largely the same as the original dock. Aside from the replacement of the inner USB port with a Ethernet port, the main differences are that the default model is now white and the Switch logo is now smaller.
Third Party Docks[]
There are a number of third-party alternatives to the Nintendo Switch Dock. However, the docks can potentially brick the main console, especially ones that released early in the Switch's life. Most of them are little stands with the ports, avoiding the issue where the dock can scratch the screen when being placed in.
