Nintendo

Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour is a paid release software for the Nintendo Switch 2. It is a tech demo with mini-games designed to teach the player the basic features about the system.

It was released on June 5, 2025 alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 system.

Overview[]

The Welcome Tour software takes place in a virtual museum setting where users can literally tour the Switch 2 console and gain information and secrets about the Joy-Con 2 controllers and screen, and details that contrast that of the original Nintendo Switch.

The software has 34 mini-games that test some of Switch 2's exclusive features, such as Mouse controls and the 120fps resolution. Some of these minigames require additional accessories such as the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller and a proper 4K Television.

Reception[]

According to Metacritic, Nintendo Switch 2: Welcome Tour received "mixed or average" reviews. Criticism mainly focused on the game being a paid addition, rather than a pack-in title for the console.

Pre-release[]

The software's paid mechanism, as well as the fact it isn't a pre-installed title, has received negative responses from the general public, with many unfavorably comparing it to the free-download PlayStation 5 title Astro's Playroom.[1] Nintendo of America's Bill Trinen has stated that the pricing was due to its value and effort put onto the title's development.[2]
