Nintendo Power V88 is the September 1996 issue of Nintendo Power magazine. It features Super Mario 64 on its cover. This was the first issue to feature a wraparound cover.

This "Previews" section gave readers brief 1-2 page looks at some popular upcoming games. This month, the previewed games were Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! (SNES), Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame (SNES) and Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow (SNES).

Counselor's Corner[]

Counselor's Corner is a feature in which the writers of the magazine would respond to game-related questions in the hope of getting the player out of a tough spot in various games. The games featured in this issue are Mega Man X3 (SNES), Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (SNES), New Horizons (SNES), and Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 (GB).

Trivia[]

  • The "Blast Off to the Future" article mistakenly states that the Nintendo 64 would not be packaged with its own A/V cable. This statement was retracted in the next issue.
  • The Kirby Super Star article seems to describe the "Revenge of Meta Knight" subgame as though it is Meta Knight's first appearance, when he actually debuted in Kirby's Adventure three years earlier.
