It was first announced on June 21, 2012 via a Nintendo Direct broadcast.[1] In a similar manner to the Nintendo DSi XL, it features a larger screen as well as a greater overall size than the original Nintendo 3DS model.The Nintendo 3DS XL screens are 90% larger than the Nintendo 3DS model (top screen: 4.88 in (124 mm), bottom screen: 4.18 in (106 mm)), and the battery life of it is increased by 86%, while the weight of it is increased by 46%.
