  • 1981: Popeye, a Wide Screen Game & Watch game, is released.
  • 1995: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is released on the Super Famicom in Japan. The game is often considered one of the last great gems on the system and certainly one of the best platformers of all time.
  • 2004: Densetsu no Starfy 3 is released in Japan for the Game Boy Advance.

  • 1986: Metroid is released on the Famicom Disk System in Japan.
  • 1993: Secret of Mana is released on the Super Famicom in Japan.

  • 2007: Boogie, an Electronic Arts Wii game, is released in America.
  • 2008: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, a Nintendo DS remake of the original Fire Emblem game, is released in Japan.

  • 2003: Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles is released in Japan for the GameCube. It is one of the first titles by Square and Enix (now Square Enix) since their departure from Nintendo during the Nintendo 64 era.
  • 2005: Nintendo DS game Jump Super Stars is released in Japan and is an instant phenomenon.

  • 1997: Tetrisphere is released on the Nintendo 64 in America.
  • 2000: Paper Mario is released on the Nintendo 64 in Japan. The game is considered the spiritual successor to Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars on the SNES.

  • 1988: Famicom Wars is released in Japan for the Famicom. It is the first game in the Nintendo Wars series.
  • 2008: Madden NFL 09 is released in America for various platforms.
  • 2009: Flipnote Studio is released in America for DSiWare for free. With the application, which was created by Super Mario Galaxy developer Nintendo EAD Tokyo, you can create animated movies using the touch screen and the mic of the Nintendo DSi and share them with the world.

  • 1987: Metroid is released in America while Duck Hunt is released in Europe, both for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
  • 1991: Ninja Gaiden, a Tecmo classic, is released on the NES in Europe.
  • 2005: N-Space developed, Nintendo published GameCube game Geist is released in America. The game, which was hyped among the press, was considered a mediocre video game.
  • 2008: Madden NFL 09 is released in Europe on various platforms. As expected, the game hardly does well when compared to sales in America. My Aquarium is also released on this day in Europe for WiiWare.
