It's obviously not the plot that makes this game so appealing though - it's the gameplay, and Mario Galaxy executes on this aspect in every way possible, inviting new ideas such as gravity into the mix and implementing previous innovations as well. The parasite's presence was greatly reduced on SR388, and they only began to thrive once more after Samus Aran destroyed all the Metroids on the planet.

They seem to also share some sort of hive mind and are depicted with the ability to anticipate Samus' actions and even mess with the station's computers after having gained more knowledge. Pikmin (species)

Pikmin are a half-plant, half-animal species of creatures from the Pikmin series. They average at 1 inch (3.3 centimeters) tall up to their stems, eat nectar (which matures them into flower Pikmin) and breathe oxygen. They also weigh 1 gram (0.0353 ounces).

During his journey, Olimar finds these indigenous creatures in their dwellings, which he names Onions. Pikmin have three stages of growth: leaf, bud and flower, adding more strength, endurance, and speed with each form.

Pikmin left in the ground as seeds will gradually mature, though this process can be accelerated through the consumption of nectar found throughout the planet. Both Pikmin and Pikmin 2 feature rather lengthy descriptions of Olimar's discoveries regarding the creatures that he and the Pikmin find and defeat, sometimes in slightly humorous pseudo-scientific style. They can also be called Pikmin Family.

Olimar uses the Pikmin to defeat enemies, notably their most abundant natural enemy, the Bulborbs, carry objects, demolish walls, push large boxes, and to construct various objects to get around more easily.

King Dedede

King Dedede(JP), simply called Dedede, is a main character in the Kirby series, first appearing in Kirby's Dream Land. Originally a villain, in later installments he became more of an antihero and rival to Kirby. He is a large blue penguin, that claims to be the king of Dream Land, however he performs no administrative function for the people, and for the most part is ignored by most of Dream Land's populace. Nonetheless he seems to have a sizeable army of easily swayed followers and owns castles and fortresses all over the country. King Dedede's selfish and self-centered behavior frequently causes him and Kirby to butt heads, however he will often fight to defend the people of Dream Land and even team up with Kirby, whenever an outside force threatens "his" kingdom.

He has appeared in almost every game in the series (with the exception of Kirby & the Amazing Mirror). As such, he is the most recurring major character of the series besides Kirby, Meta Knight and Waddle Dee. Nintendo has described Dedede as Kirby's "Arch frenemy," and as he has helped more than harmed him since Kirby's Return to Dream Land, it is debatable whether or not Dedede is even a real antagonist anymore as most of his recents fight with Kirby were out of his control as he has a tendency to be mind controlled by the real threat of every game.
