Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway is a racing game developed by Bamtang Games and published by GameMill Entertainment for the Nintendo Switch. It is the second sequel to 2018's Nickelodeon Kart Racers.
Gameplay[]
Similarly to Nickelodeon Kart Racers and its sequel, players race across tracks to come in first place, and use items to help themselves or hinder their opponents. Players can also use techniques such as drifting and performing tricks, referred to as "Slime Stunts", to increase their speed.
As with Nickelodeon Kart Racers, there are parts of the track where the players' vehicles will turn into watercraft. Additionally, the "pit crew", first seen in Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix, makes a return in this game. The player must pick a chief member, who grants them active abilities, and two crew members, who grant passive abilities. For the crew chiefs, players must drive over slime to fill up their Slime Meter, which can be used when its full. There are 90 pit crew members to unlock.
Unlike the first two Nickelodeon Kart Racers installments, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3 features Double Dares, which are special assignments that players must complete in order to earn an item. Once a Dare has been completed, it is disabled for the rest of the race.
There are four modes that the player can choose from:
- Slime Scramble: Players race across 4 tracks to come in 1st place. In multiplayer, the player who crosses the finish line first ends the race for the others.
- Free Race: Players can race on the track of their choice, after setting their game speed, bot difficulty, pit crew, laps, items, and Double Dares.
- Time Trial: Players race on a track of their choice, given the option on whether or not they choose to race a track's ghost.
- Challenges: Players complete special objectives for each mission to unlock crew chiefs. Every eighth mission has a player racing a boss, in which beating them earns them the right to play as that character.
- Arena: The game's Battle mode, which can be played in teams. It has its own modes:
- Demolition: Players must hit their opponents ten times to win.
- Control the Golden Spatula: Players must pick up the Golden Spatula and hold it for 15 seconds. The player or team to do so wins.
- Slime Trails: Played only in teams, players must race around the arenas covering most of it with their team's slime color than the other team similarly to Splatoon. Periodically, the amount of slime every member has will decay, so they must keep refilling their Slime Meter to continue covering more ground while avoiding the slime generators for the opposing team. The team that covers the most after 3 minutes wins.
- Jellyspotters: One team, the Jellyspotters, must capture everyone on the other team, known as the Jellyfish. The team that has the most wins after a certain number of rounds wins.
Playable characters[]
The game includes a cast of 40 playable characters, two of which are downloadable content, making it the biggest roster in any Nickelodeon racing game. Unlike the previous two games, the characters are all fully voiced (with the exception of JoJo Siwa), and the 1987 cartoon versions of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters are used instead of the 2012 versions, while the Rugrats characters' designs are based on the 2021 reboot.
