New Year's Eve and New Year's Eve Countdown are two real life identical events that occur on December 31 as the last day of the year. The events also occur in Animal Crossing and Animal Crossing: Wild World, respectively. They both occur on December 31st to celebrate the oncoming new year. A large clock will be placed in your town to countdown, and once the new year has arrived a large fireworks display will ensue. Talk to Tortimer in both games to get special items - in Animal Crossing the Noisemaker and in Wild World the Poppers.
