(Not to be confused with the original NES Blades of Steel.)

NHL Blades of Steel '99 is a sports game (focused on ice hockey) for the Nintendo 64. It is licensed by the National Hockey League and its Player's Association.

In Europe, the game was released under the title NHL Pro 99.

The game has three gameplay modes: Exhibition, Season and Playoff. Player creation is available and stats are saved in nearly 40 categories. Real-world San Jose Sharks TV play-by-play commentator Randy Hahn provides the in-game play-by-play. The Rumble Pak is also supported.

As in the real-world sport of hockey, the object is to score more goals than the opposing team to win the game.

All 27 NHL teams from that year appear in the game, including the expansion team the Nashville Predators.

Box Art

The box art for the game is a still shot of Jaromir Jagr of the Pittsburgh Penguins who was the scoring leader the previous season.
