NHL 2000 is an ice hockey game for the Game Boy Color, based on the ice hockey season of 1999–2000. It is licensed by the National Hockey League and its Player's Association. Though other versions were released in other countries, the Game Boy Color version was only released in North America.
As in the real-world sport of hockey, the object is to score more goals than the opposing team to win the game.
All NHL teams from that year appear in the game, including the expansion team the Atlanta Thrashers.
The box art for the game is a still shot of Chris Pronger of the St. Louis Blues who inevitably became the League's Most Valuable Player that season.
