A Mr. Saturn is a strange species that appear in the game, EarthBound, and again in the sequel, Mother 3. They are allies of Ness and his friends, and reside in Saturn Valley, a location north of Threed. They tend to like odd foods, such as the Peanut Cheese Bar, or the Piggy Jelly. They also have their own odd language, which is more of pooly written English. Although every Mr. Saturn shares the same name, except for Dr. Saturn, they each have their own differant personality or trait. The Mr. Saturn's are very intelligent, and they even assist Dr. Andonuts in building the Phase Distorter.

Mr. Saturn (どせいさん, Dosei-san) are a friendly species of characters in Mother 2/EarthBound, as well as its sequel Mother 3. They are found primarily in the Saturn Valley portion of Eagleland. They resemble large heads with feet, an oversized nose, cat-like whiskers and a bow on a single hair. They speak in a unique font used only with them. They generally end their sentences with words such as "boing" and "zoom". It was revealed the font used on the Mr. Saturn in the Japanese version was inspired by Shigesato Itoi's daughter's handwriting at the time. In addition, they all are identical and called Mr. Saturn, save for the doctor, Dr. Saturn. According to Itoi, the Mr. Saturn race are a symbolism of innocence in the games.

During the events of EarthBound, Ness and his friends had to find out the cause of the Zombie attack on Threed. They learned that it was because of the villainous minion of Giygas, Master Belch. The group headed North to try and find Belch, and ended up in Saturn Valley, where the Mr. Saturn's lived. They assisted the group in finding Master Belch, who had enslaved a few of the Mr. Saturn's, by telling them the combination to Belch's lair. They also told them they had to use the Fly Honey to see him, which they had found in Threed. A few Mr. Saturn's had already been captured and enslaved, however, these Mr. Saturn's were oblivious to the fact that they were enslaved. Ness and his group confronted Master Belch, and defeated him using the Fly Honey, thus, saving the captured Mr. Saturn's. They thanked Ness, Paula, and Jeff, and the group headed back to Threed.

Later on, the group needed to find a way to get to the past, as well as Giygas's dimension. They saught the help of Jeff's father, Dr. Andonuts, who could build a machine capable of going through the dimensions. However, Dr. Andonuts was not in his lab at Winters, but actually in Saturn Valley, talking with the Mr. Saturn's that lived there. Dr. Andonuts states that if anyone can build a maching like THAT, the Mr. Saturn's can. The entire race of Mr. Saturn's proved their intellect, by building the Phase Distorter for the gang. Unfortunately, there was one problem. The Phase Distorter will kill any living thing inside of it, so Ness and the gang had to have their conscience placed in Robots. During the battle with Giygas, the Mr. Saturn's feel that Ness and his friends are having a hard time defeating Giygas, and they pray frantically for their safety. This, along with many other prayers from Ness's friends, helps the group defeat Giygas once and for all. In the end, Dr. Andonuts, and his son, Jeff, decides to stay in Saturn Valley with the Mr. Saturn's.

Mr. Saturns appear as items in the game, Super Smash Bros. Melee. They entered the game as an item representation for the EarthBound series, with Ness being the main representation. When picked up, a Mr. Saturn can be held by a player, as he/she walks around. However, when the player sees an opening, he/she can throw the Mr. Saturn at the opponents. This does minor damage, but it can be picked up again, or grabbed in the air, and then thrown again. A smash attack with the Mr. Saturn deals about 11% of damage to the opponents.
