Minecraft: Story Mode is an episodic adventure game for the Wii U and later ported to the Nintendo Switch by Telltale Games. The first episode released in January 2016 with regular episodic releases afterward. On June 30th, 2016, episodes 2-5 were released as downloadable contents of the game on eShop. In mid-December, the game got a retail release for all major platforms as Minecraft: Story Mode - The Complete Adventure, including all 8 episodes released at the time. The Nintendo Switch version of The Complete Adventure was released in August 2017.
In the beginning before playing an episode, the player chooses their skins of their character named Jesse, neither male or female. During the conversation with other characters, players chooses what to say, and decisions and choices they make affects their own story in the next episode.

Minecraft: Story Mode received mixed-to positive reviews from critics. It received praises for humors, faithfulness to its source materials, and light hearted tone compared to other Telltale's work.
