Miles Prower, better known by his nickname "Tails" is the deuteragonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog series created by Sega in 1992 and is generally as longtime best friend and sidekick of Sonic. His first appearance on Nintendo platforms was in Sonic Advance for the Game Boy Advance and, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, an expansion remake of Sonic Adventure 2 for the Nintendo GameCube which were both released on the same day.

Tails' name is a pun of the phrase "miles per hour".

Character History[]

Tails first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as Sonic's sidekick. He reappeared in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 with the ability to fly. Tails didn't make another major appearance until Sonic Adventure. He, along with Silver and Knuckles, make a cameo in the Super Smash Bros. Brawl stage Green Hill Zone.

Personality[]

Tails is very friendly and quite humble. He generally lacks confidence, but is always capable when Sonic's around. He is also very intelligent, is a mechanical genius, and an expert pilot. Although he was content with just being a sidekick in early games, he has shown a longing to become more independent in Sonic Adventure, and he's proven his worth after defeating Dr. Eggman's walker in the same game.

He also has a tendency to talk a lot, down to the point where Sonic may start ignoring him, much to Tails's annoyance. Sometimes, he talks so much that he may accidentally blurt out secrets or plans. He also annoys others with his overuse of "technobabble", which usually frustrates those around him, especially Knuckles.

Trivia[]

  • In Nintendo Power, one of the editors, Chris Hoffman, frequently insisted on saying Tails was a "mutant squirrel", even after fans wrote in to correct him on this.
