Micro Machines 2: Turbo Tournament is a video game released in 1996 and originally developed by Codemasters. The SNES and Game Boy versions were published by Ocean Software. This entry added several new vehicles including hovercrafts and helicopters.
Micro Machines 2: Turbo Tournament plays much like the original Micro Machines, with a top-down perspective with the cars drive around various household environments like a bathroom or pool tables with household objects being obstacles.
The game has a challenge mode, a head-to-head mode, Leagues, Time Trails, Single Race and Tournament. Challenge has the player race against three opponents and try to place 1st or 2nd to progress. A good enough lap time on the early course can automatically progress to the next race. Head-To-Head has the player run an elimination race against a single opponent with enough distance giving the player ahead a point. The first to 8 points or whoever has the most after 3 laps wins. League has the player compete in season to earn the most points in a division to get to the next higher division. The Tournament is a series of single races with the player who wins a set of races in a row wins.
There are two multiplayer modes; Knockout and Share Games.
The vehicles present in the game are:
- Rally cars
- Off-road vehicles
- Sports cars
- Three-wheel motorcycles.
