Metroid is a video game released on the NES in the late 80's. This game is not only the first game in the Metroid Series, but is also the first game to feature Samus Aran. The game is designed by legendary game creator Gunpei Yokoi, whom also made the Game Boy, and other games such as Kid Icarus.

It is one of the best known games, and is in the top 20 games in both Nintendo Power and Electronic Gaming Monthly top 200 games of all time. The genre is a shooter and platformer.
