Mega Man: The Wily Wars is a video game compilation developed by Minakuchi Engineering and published by Capcom for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in 1994. The compilation features remakes of Mega Man, Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3, alongside a bonus new game called Wily Tower.

The game was released on the Mega Drive in Japan and Europe, but in the United States, was only available to play through the Sega Channel service. After the Sega Channel shut down, it was not legally available in the US again until its inclusion as a built-in game on AtGame's Sega Genesis Ultimate Portable Game Player and later on the Sega Genesis Mini in September 2019. It finally saw a physical release in the US by Retro-Bit Gaming in 2021, and was added to Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack in 2022.

Gameplay[]

The game is a remake of the first three NES Mega Man games, with Mega Man 2 removing Normal Mode from the game, leaving Difficult as the only difficulty. Beating all three games unlocks Wily Tower, a mode with new robot masters that allows selecting any weapon from the first 3 Mega Man games to help in the quest to defeat Wily yet again.

Plot[]

According to the game's instruction manual, Dr. Wily has built a time machine and travels back to the events of the first three Mega Man games in hopes of trying to exterminate the Blue Bomber in the past.
