May (ハルカ, Haruka) is the female choice for the player character in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, and also serves as the rival in the same games if the player chooses to play as the male character. She is also a main character of the anime series during the Hoenn region.

In the anime
In the May serves as a main character alongside Ash Ketchum, Pikachu and Brock in the Hoenn region. During the anime series, Ash asks May to travel with him to the next City as she doesn't want to go alone. There is also a bike involved as with Misty in the first series. They later meet up with Brock and even Misty for an episode or two. Her Pokémon on hand are Beautifly, Skitty, Venusaur, Wartortle, Munchlax and Glaceon. May is a character from Hoenn, but she also made a few appearences in other regions.
