Maxim Tomatoes are a recovery item in the Kirby series. When eaten, they fully recover a character's health and vitality, making them the best healing item in the games. Maxim Tomatoes are rarer than other Food items and often hidden in out of the way parts of levels or inside of breakable objects. In the Kirby games, tomatoes are Kirby's favorite food.

Appearance[]

Maxim Tomatoes are large red tomatoes with a black "M" on the front of them. The "M" likely standing for "Maxim".

Super Smash Bros. series[]

Maxim Tomatoes also appear in the Super Smash Bros. series where, like the Kirby series, they act as recovery items. However, unlike the Kirby series, they don't fully heal a character; instead healing a set amount from a character's damage meter. In the original Super Smash Bros., they healed characters of 100% damage, while in later games after Super Smash Bros. Melee they only heal 50% damage. According to Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, this is because these Maxim Tomato's come from a different crop than the ones in Kirby's own world.

Trivia[]

  • In Kirby video games, tomatoes are often stated to be Kirby's favorite food. In the Kirby anime's continuity, however, his favorite food is watermelon.
  • In Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the gacha capsule description for Maxim Tomatoes suggest that they were already in existence in the Forgotten World prior to Kirby and friend's arrival there and that they were already considered a delicacy by the Beast Pack. This could suggest that The Ancients were the ones to first breed Maxim Tomatoes and are responsible for introducing them to Pop Star and other planets in Kirby's universe.
