Matthew Vandham is the main protagonist of the Future Redeemed DLC of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. He is a resident of the City who is searching for his missing sister Na'el. In the main game, he is the founder of House Vandham and the ancestor of Guernica, Monica, and Ghondor.

Future Redeemed[]
Matthew is the grandson of Ghondor, who raised him and his sister Na'el after their parents died in battle. One day he returned to the City where they were raised, only to find Ghondor being killed by N, shortly after which a large explosion destroyed much of the area.
He was discovered by A, who he presumed to be another City resident. They became known as Moebius hunters as they searched for survivors from the City. One day, they found Kevesi Nikol and Agnian Glimmer battling, so they intervened and destroyed both of their Flame Clocks. After this, they fought and killed Consuls Q and R. The next morning, they discovered that Glimmer had left and followed her, running into the Liberators, led by Shulk and Rex.
After coming back to Colony 9, Matthew and the Liberators followed a distress signal, where they encountered Na'el. But Shulk and Rex informed Matthew that Na'el was possessed by Alpha. After a battle, Alpha fights N, who Matthew learns is also his great-grandfather. Origin then begins to descend from the sky, leading N to leave.
Matthew and the Liberators head to Origin, where they fight and defeat N. After this they enter Origin, where they find themselves in a past memory stored in Origin of a world past. Matthew hears piano music and finds Na'el, who tells him about the world she wishes to live in. Matthew talks to her and convinces her that Alpha and Moebius are not much different, but suddenly Alpha appears and possesses Na'el again. After a battle, Na'el is freed from Alpha, who is defeated.
Following Alpha's defeat, Matthew founds the second City alongside Na'el, Nikol, Glimmer, Panacea, and Linka. He tells the others that he'll be setting off on a journey to find other survivors of the first City, and he departs as the others say goodbye.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3[]
A statue of Matthew appears in the City's Memorial Hall. According to the statue Matthew was never seen again after his departure, but his descendents arrived at the second City several centuries later.
