The gameplay has changed a decent bit. It plays generally similar to all previous games in the series since Mario vs. DK 2: March of the Minis, but now plays in a 3D space instead of 2D. It now plays a bit more like a pipe game having the Minis following a set path instead of pseudo-platforming. All the series staple parts return, but the parts are mainly blocks which the player races to place before the Minis walk off the path. The goal is to get the highest score, through collecting all the Coins, destroying all the enemies and getting all the Minis to the end of the level. Sharing of custom levels has returned from Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again and Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!.
