Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam (JP) (known in Europe and Austrailia as Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros.) is the fifth installment in the Mario & Luigi series developed for the 3DS by AlphaDream. It crosses over with Paper Mario series, introducing Paper Mario as a third party member.
Gameplay
The gameplay is fundamentally the same as the combat in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. However, Paper Mario takes on a third button to be controlled. In addition to the Bros. Attacks, there are Trio Attacks where Paper Mario pulls out a giant carboard hammer to swing at opponents to trigger the move.
Like the Bros. Attacks, these are flashy attacks that deal a lot of damage, but most seem to take advantage of the paper qualities of Paper Mario and several of the enemies. They require all three characters to be alive.
Paper Mario also gains a Copy ability which behaves somewhat similarly to the dream clones in battles in that he can do more attacks consecutively using his copies. Paper Mario also has a little flutter in his jump so he can stay in the air better.
On the field, the player must take account of playing as a group of three characters. Paper Mario also has unique abilities in being paper thin to go through small crevices in walls and such.
Papercraft Battles
New to the series is the giant papercraft Mario which the Mario Trio rides and are piloted by a bunch of Toads underneath it. Out on the field are several giant papercraft Goombas piloted by Goombas. The goal is to defeat all the enemy papercrafts by either charging at them or jumping on fallen ones for greater damage.
amiibo Support
The following amiibo are supported. They can be scanned in to unlock special cards to use in battle. The cards are based on the characters throughout all their iterations.

Plot
The story starts with Luigi dropping a book which leads to all the Paper Mario characters being released into the Mario & Luigi world. Peach meets her Paper doppelganger as well as Bowser and chaos ensues across the Mushroom Kingdom.
