A Mamuta is a rock creature of Unknown Family with two small dark eyes and dark markings around in the Pikmin series. The Mamuta can't kill Pikmin, it smacks them and they get planted, they turn into flowers. He was in The Impact Site in Pikmin, and a few caves in Pikmin 2. He was rare in Pikmin, only every few days it would show up. The other days Goolix is there, either that or no monster. Yellow Pikmin are the best Pikmin to kill, because they throw Bomb-rocks at it. When any harm comes to it, the Mamuta becomes enraged and it will smack them to the ground. The Smoky Progg is thought to be the larva of the Mamuta. It can be troublesome without the Pluckaphone in Pikmin. In order to defeat it quickly, Olimar must have Yellows bring in the Bomb-rocks and the Yellows must aim well and he should time himself when the Mamuta isn't by the pounded Pikmin.
When a Mamuta ground pounds a Pikmin and a Pilot has the Pluckaphone, he should call the Pikmin and they will rise up.
When Olimar's using Purple Pikmin on them, they will kill them quickly.
"This creature seems fond of flowers, but only for their decorative properties."
"The imbalanced, asymmetrical arms of the mamuta are among its most notable features. Feeding on seeds and fruit, the mamuta is known to actually sow and grow plant species. While other species have exhibited seed-burying behavior for the purpose of storage, the mamuta is the only species so far known to actually cultivate fields of plants."
"Inedible. Tastes like chicken."
"This seems to be a gentle, flower-loving creature, but if angered, it is fierce. Its mighty open-handed smack... It reminds me of the time back home when a mosquito landed on my head, and my wife tried to get it..."
Pikmin's "Nintendo Player's Guide" Description
"If you visit the Impact Site on an even-numbered day (between Days 8 and 30), you'll encounter the mamuta on a big tree stump. If the mamut attacks your Pikmin, it won't harm them; it will merely pound them into the ground and your replanted Pikmin will instantly bloom into flowers."
Pikmin 2's "Nintendo Player's Guide" Description
"A Mamuta cannot defeat a Pikmin, but it can pound the trooper into the ground with its heavy arms. In fact, one rock beast can bury several Pikmin with a single blow. After you defeat the Mamuta with flying attacks, be sure to pluck your buddies from the soil; their tops will be in full bloom."
