Magmanos are arm shaped enemies made of magma in the Zelda series. They mainly appear in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword where they are introduced as mini-bosses before becoming more common enemies. They are quite rare and only appear in the Fire Sanctuary.

Behavior

Magmanos are found in the various lava pits of the Fire Sanctuary. They hide inside the lava until Link comes near them. They will then follow him while he is walking on a floor they can go through. They damage Link by rising through the floor from under him and touching him with their fiery bodies. Link can trick them by standing on stone slabs, which will cause the Magmanos to elevate them when rising from bellow them. This allows him to reach higher areas. To defeat them Link must solidify them by throwing water on them, once it's done an attack with any of the damaging tools is enough to get rid of them. The first one encountered cannot be defeated on the first visit, due to the nearby Water Fruit being barred from reach. Later, Link encounters a pair of Magmanos in another room which are fought as the mini-bosses of the Fire Sanctuary. Defeating them will free Silva, the Mogma captured in the next room.

Fi's Comment

"This hand-shaped monster dwells in fiery lava. Its body is made up entirely of flowing magma. As such, it is invulnerable to most attacks. Theoretically, it would be possible to inflict damage on the monster if you were able to solidify its body."
