Magical Tetris Challenge is a puzzle game by Capcom for the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color. It is a version of Tetris featuring Disney characters.

The N64 version is a port of an arcade game that was released only in Japan. This same game was ported to the Sony PlayStation in Europe, but that version did not see a release in the United States, making this an N64-exclusive title in North America. It is also one of the few Nintendo 64 games to be entirely in 2D.

Gameplay[]

Magical Tetris Challenge is played as one of four characters: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, or Goofy, Three game modes are available: Magical Tetris, Updown Tetris, and an Endless mode. Magical and Updown Tetris can be played under Story Mode or in Versus Multiplayer.

Plot[]

The N64 version's Story Mode, like the arcade version it is based on, has different campaigns for each of the four playable characters, all revolving around a magical gemstone that Donald fishes out of the sea, the power of which Sir Pete is seeking to use. Each of the four campaigns has the chosen player character playing Tetris matches against the other three, then battling Pete's henchmen, an uncreatively-named Weasel (based on the ones from The Wind in the Willows) and the Big Bad Wolf from The Three Little Pigs, before taking on Pete himself. Donald's campaign, which opens with him finding the stone while fishing, occurs first chronologically, Minnie and Goofy's campaigns occur afterward, and Mickey's campaign takes place last.

The Game Boy Color version features a completely different plot, in which the console version's main characters go to a carnival and challenge other characters for Tetris coins.
