Madden NFL 26 is an American Football game for the Nintendo Switch 2 published by Electronic Arts in 2025. It is the first entry in the Madden NFL series since Madden NFL 13. The cover art features the Philadelphia Eagles running back, Saquon Barkley.

Gameplay[]

The game generally plays like most previous entries. The screen is generally oriented with the Offense facing their endzone. In single-player on offense, the player controls the player with the ball, performing a play they selected. When the ball gets to the quarterback, the player presses one of the buttons to throw the ball to one of the receivers, where the player then tries to score a touchdown. The defense will try to stop the ball from progressing down the field by tackling the running back or receiver. The game has notably more realistic physics for collisions and avoiding them.

The game has three long term modes beyond the standard game. The primary one is Franchise where the player takes on a team as a coach and chooses who to draft, what plays to run, and how to train the team through the season of football. Superstar is the player-focused mode where the player creates their own Football player and plays through their career, first by getting drafted and then with challenges on the team. The goal of this mode is to get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The final major mode is Ultimate Team where the player crafts their fantasy team of NFL players in recent history. The player then competes online against other user-created teams. This mode is reliant on drawing card.

Development[]

The game was announced on April 24, 2025, and was released on August 14, 2025 for Nintendo Switch 2. With a simultaneous launch on Nintendo Switch 2, it is the first Madden entry to be released on a Nintendo console since Madden NFL 13 on Wii U and Wii.

Reception[]

Madden NFL 26 received favorable reviews according to review aggregator Metacritic.
