These are the following changes made between the original GameCube version and the New Play Control! Wii version of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. The following detail the list of visual and technical changes to the game.

Changes[]

Gameplay[]

  • The game now supports 16:9 widescreen display.[1]
  • Beats are simply called bananas.
  • Bananas have been added at various points.
  • Blooms give the player an extra life for collecting one hundred of them instead of giving one hundred beats/bananas.
  • Stacks of logs have been added to various parts of levels.
  • Barrel Cannons are used in the place of the launching plants from the original.
  • Donkey Kong now wears a crown after defeating a boss. The crown can also be worn during gameplay after the player completes the game with all crests and crowns.

Enemies and NPCs[]

  • Mini Panda is now a blue bear.
  • The color of the interior of Roc eggs is glowing purple rather than red, with purple smoke rather than black. It also now glows purple.
  • The helper monkeys have updated fur textures.
  • Helper Monkeys are scattered around various points of kingdoms to give the player advice.
  • The Snow Moles have been removed from Silver Snow Peak, replaced with unknown obstructions. Several pits have also been added to the course.*During Opening Ceremony, Donkey Kong may also save various Helper Monkeys trapped inside bubbles by using the Sound Wave Attack.
  • Enemy arrangement has been slightly altered. Notably, Kamikami have been completely removed and replaced by the similar Karikari.

Camera[]

  • The Karate Kong battle is shown from a different camera angle while Donkey Kong is punching.
  • Due to closer camera angles, a zoomed-in image of Donkey Kong is no longer shown at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen at any point.

Menu[]

  • There's an additional top banner and the "Choose a Kingdom text is reduced and uses the text similar to the original's.
  • The text is changed and has Wii button controls.
  • The sun and wrench barrels have been removed.
  • The arrows have been removed.
  • After completing a level, the crown appears and a lei drops onto the icon until finally the crests appear.

Results screen[]

  • The "Clear" text is replaced with a more simple "Results" text, and the spiky forest banners are included.
  • The "Best Beat Total" is replaced with "Best Banana Score".
  • The 'pow' graphic when there's a new high score is now red.
  • After completing a level, only the completed stage is highlighted and the text is white.

Crest Check![]

  • There is now a "Crest Check!" text.
  • All crests are silver.
  • There are signs with the number of bananas obtained.

Miscellaneous[]

  • There is now a title screen for first-time players, and a file select screen.
  • The Barrel HUD for counting bananas are now centered.
  • When introducing a level at the start, it also details what kingdom it is part of, and it includes "~" signs.
  • In the opening screen, the logo and trademark have been removed and is simply replaced with the "Shake your controllers!" command.
  • The hearts are included in the bonus game and are worth 50 bananas each before a boss battle.
  • The "Try This!" hint video is now played after every kingdom is completed and has two spiky banners. The video is also reduced in size.
  • The clap instructions have been replaced with Wii remote motion commands.
  • There are now 60 crests instead of 72.
  • Six different save files are available, unlike the original, which has only one per memory card.
  • Opening Ceremony can no longer be selected once the player has completed it.
  • Many elements, from the sound effects to the text, has been changed to make it more similar to the Super Mario Galaxy games, which the development team has worked on those games.
