Chinchou was a Pokémon in the video game Pokémon Gold and Silver. When it reached level 27, it would evolve into Lanturn. Lanturn could also be caught by going to Route 26, Route 27, New Bark Town, Union Cave, Olivine City, Pallet Town, Vermilion City, Cinnabar Island and fishing or surfing. They played the same role in the game's remakes Pokémon Crystal and Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. In every subsequent game excluding Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, the only way players could receive Lanturn was by trading. In Diamond and Pearl Lanturn was found by fishing in Route 220.
Other Pokémon games
Lanturn has appeared in most Pokémon games following Gold and Silver, from the console games like Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness to handheld titles such as Pokémon Trozei! and the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series. It has made numerous appearances in the Pokémon anime series, though it hasn't played a key role in the show.
