LEGO Bionicle: Quest for the Toa is a Game Boy Advance action-adventure game based on the Bionicle franchise. It was developed by Saffire Corporation and published by Lego Software. This title was supposed to be a prequel to the first mainline Bionicle game.
The game is played in a top-down perspective with the player playing as one of the islanders. The game features a custom protagonist which the player can customize the mask, arms and legs. The islander has limited combat abilities so, the game relies more on puzzles with player able to jump over gaps, through fruit, pick up small rocks and push boulders. In each village, the player helps them and tries to obtain the Toa stones.
Prior to the start of the game, Mata Nui is crept over by a shadow known as Makuta. The tropical paradise is now in danger from corrupted wildlife. The villagers put their faith into an ancient legend that foretold of six mighty heroes that could save the land.
The story starts out on the beaches of Mata Nui. Takua, after hearing he is needed in Onu-Koro, travels there but, upon arriving, he find that the village's Turaga, Whenua, was missing. He ventures into the Onu-Wahi tunnels to find him. After defeating a Vatuka, Takua frees the Turaga. While in Onu-Koro, he finds Onua's Toa Stone, as well as saves the village's Vuata Maca Tree, their source of food.
Takua does the same thing in each village: Ga-Koro, Po-Koro, Le-Koro, Ko-Koro, and Ta-Koro, respectively. After finding Tahu's Toa Stone, he travels through the lava fields for a while, until he accidentally catapults himself to Mata Nui's beaches again, losing his memory. He puts the stones into their spots when he lands on Kini-Nui. The game ends with the Toa being summoned to the island.
