Koichi Hayashida (born 1969) is a long-time producer and director at Nintendo, primarily known for his work on the 3D Mario series since the GameCube era under Yoshiaki Koizumi. After serving for many years at Nintendo's Tokyo group, currently he works at Nintendo EPD Production Group No. 10.

History[]

After graduating from college in 1991, Hayashida attended the Nintendo Dentsu Game Seminar in 1992, where he programmed Joy Mech Fight, along with Koichiro Eto, which was published in 1993.

Hayashida later officially joined the company in May 1999, where his first notable work was Super Mario Sunshine as main programmer. He was transferred to Nintendo EAD Tokyo along with several other developers after Nintendo's reestructure, where he worked on Donkey Kong Jungle Beat as assistant director and Super Mario Galaxy as level design director. He later went on to direct 3D Mario titles since Super Mario Galaxy 2, as well as the NES Remix series. Eventually, Hayashida was promoted to producer of the Tokyo branch, where he produced Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Super Mario Odyssey.

After his long tenure at Tokyo working on 3D Mario titles, Hayashida moved back to Kyoto at Nintendo EPD Production Group No. 10, where he most notably worked on game design for Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

Hayashida also provided the voice of Major Burrows in Super Mario Galaxy.
