Kirby no Kirakira Kizzu(JP) is a HAL Laboratory video game released in 1998 and 1999 for the Super Famicom and its Nintendo Power add-on. The game is basically a remake or re-release of Kirby's Star Stacker and is thus sometimes called Kirby's Super Star Stacker. The gameplay is the exact same, with very minor enhancements implemented. The game was directed by Hitoshi Yamagami and produced by Hiroaki Suga. Satoru Iwata was the chief producer.
It was since imported to the Virtual Console for the Wii and Wii U in Japan, in 2010 and 2013 respectively. The 3DS version of Virtual Console was released for the New 3DS and New 2DS XL in Japan in November 2016. It got imported to the Nintendo Switch Online in Japan on July 21, 2022 and released worldwide via this service on September 6, 2023, for the first time outside Japan.
Gameplay[]
Changes are the story mode is the only mode added in this version, which introduces opponents such as Waddle Dee and Meta Knight. Out of all of those opponents, Gryll is the final boss of this mode, which means that it can be accessed only if all other rounds were completed without a loss. Changes are also that the graphics are in color instead of monochrome.
