Kirby's Dream Collection (JP) is an anthology collection celebrating the Kirby series' 20th anniversary, which occured on April 27, 2012. The collection includes a Wii disc featuring six past Kirby titles, a book containing Kirby's history, and a soundtrack CD with music from the series.
The collection was released in Japan on July 19, 2012 and in North America on September 16, 2012, but it was never released in Europe or Australia, although an issue of the Official Nintendo Magazine confirmed a Winter 2012 release was planned. This was the final first-party title to be released for the Wii by Nintendo in those regions.
The games included on the Wii disc are:
- Kirby's Dream Land (Game Boy)
- Kirby's Adventure (NES)
- Kirby's Dream Land 2 (Game Boy)
- Kirby Super Star (SNES)
- Kirby's Dream Land 3 (SNES)
- Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (Nintendo 64)
Aside from the games, the disc also has new challenge stages, based on those from 2011's Kirby's Return to Dream Land. There is also a museum feature, which presents a history of the Kirby series in an interactive way. The disc also contains three episodes of the Kirby: Right Back at Ya! TV series (episodes 1, 60, and 72).
Included with the Dream Collection game disc is a book detailing the history of the Kirby series and a soundtrack CD of music used in past Kirby games.
This 45 page booklet is packed with Kirby series information and trivia. Much of the booklet contains game info and motivations for why a particular game turned out the way it did. The rest of the booklet highlighted interesting parts of the Kirby series. Special sections in this booklet referred to as "Kirby's Corner" focuses on fun things like quizzes and artwork. There are also sections dedicated to Kirby characters and enemies.
Near the end of the booklet are staff credits for the six playable games on this disc as well as credits for the whole compilation. The final pages listed songs from the soundtrack with descriptions of the game and level it came from.
The soundtrack includes a total of 45 individual tracks lasting over an hour. While 42 of the tracks are directly from Kirby games, the last three are bonus tracks originally arranged by HAL Laboratory’s sound team.
