Killer Instinct is an arcade video game made by Rare and Midway that was later merged over to the SNES and Game Boy. On the latter two systems it was published by Nintendo. The game is similar to other fighting video games released at the time, though had its own personality that distinguished itself from the others.

Gameplay

Some say that Killer Instinct is a mixture of both Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat (the latter being a series that Midway also publishes). The attacks present in the game are similar to Street Fighter, while from Mortal Kombat it takes the finishing moves. Of course there are various aspects that are different from those games, and others in the franchise.

For one, rather than having to input a set button combination in order to launch a powerful combo, the player will just need to execute a special move in order to see him perform the combo. There are also combo breaking moves as well.
