Killer Freaks From Outer Space was a Ubisoft title announced along with the Wii U. The game was later changed to ZombiU.

Trivia[]

Killer Freaks from Outer Space originally began life as a Rayman: Raving Rabbids spin-off, intended to be a Wii U launch title, called Attack of the Killer Rabbids from Outer Space.

As development progressed, the increasingly violent tone of the game drifted further and further from the family-friendly Rabbids series, prompting Ubisoft to drop the connection, replacing the "Rabbids" with "Killer Freaks".

The game changed directions once again when the team weren't satisfied with how the game was shaping up. They completely overhauled the game, dropping its 1-4 co-op multiplayer, swapping the "Killer Freaks" for zombies, and introducing survival horror mechanics, like inventory management, to better utilize the Wii U's gamepad.

Despite the developmental hurdles, the game, now titled ZombiU,released on time, becoming the console's bestselling third-party launch title. Despite the success, the game failed to make a profit, and a sequel, being prototyped at the time, was swiftly cancelled.
