Ivalice

Ivalice is a recurring location in a variety of Final Fantasy video games, including the Final Fantasy Tactics series, Final Fantasy XII, and Vagrant Story. Together the games are part of a series called the Ivalice Alliance. The only games part of this alliance that have appeared on Nintendo consoles include Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift, and Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS (latter two), respectively.

The geography understandably changes between each video games - not because of a time gap but rather to keep the gameplay interesting. In the original Tactics Advance, Ivalice is described as a parrel world from our very own, and can be accessed via a book. However, the sequel takes place in the actual world of Ivalice. Ivalice is known as an area where magic and machines exist together in a midevil setting of sorts. It first appeared in the Playstation 1 video game Final Fantasy Tactics, and was concieved by Yasumi Matsuno.

• Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - A sequel to the original Final Fantasy Tactics game, this was the first Ivalice based title to appear on a Nintendo console.
• Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings - A DS title and a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XII (see below).
• Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift - A sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

Non-Nintendo consoles

• Final Fantasy Tactics - The first Final Fantasy Tactics video game, was originally released on the PlayStation. First game to be set in Ivalice.
  • Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions - Remake of the above game for the PSP.
• Vagrant Story - A title for the PlayStation.
• Final Fantasy XII - A game exclusive to the PlayStation 2, this title is often considered the primary title that takes place in the area, despite not being the first.
