In an Italian newspaper, Shigeru Miyamoto was quoted saying that there would be a few things he would change regarding the iPhone. When asked if he was serious, he replied with "no, no, I was just joking, please don't write that in your article."
When asked why the Wii wasn't getting the same success in Italy as it was in Japan and the United States, Miyamoto replied by saying that maybe Nintendo wasn't supplying the stores with enough products.
On April 6, 2009, a devastating earthquake hit Italy that took the lives of over 300 people. Nintendo Italy donated Nintendo products to young survivors of the quake.
