"Island of the Giant Pokémon" is the 17th episode of Pokémon the Series. It was first broadcast in Japan on July 22, 1997 and in the United States on September 30, 1998.
Plot[]
After being hit by a Dragon Rage attack from James' newly evolved Gyarados while at sea, the humans are separated from their Pokémon on an island that is inhabited by giant Pokémon. Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Meowth, Ekans, and Koffing (who for this one episode are all given subtitles translating their speech) try to make their way back to their trainers, while the trainers and their Pokémon escape the giant Pokémon, unaware that they have all landed on an island owned by Giovanni that houses a theme park dedicated to giant robotic Pokémon.

- This is the first episode where the "Who's That Pokémon?" segment is different between versions.
- It is revealed here that Jessie and James got Ekans and Koffing as a chugen gift (her last birthday in the English dub) and an oseibo gift (Christmas in the English dub), respectively. It would later be revealed in Pokémon Masters EX that Giovanni was the one who gave Koffing to James.
