Inspector Chelmey is a recurring character in the Professor Layton series, first appearing in Professor Layton and the Curious Village for the Nintendo DS. He is a non-playable character from England. In the series he works for the London police force and is feared by most criminals for his unforgiving attitude and harsh temper. In the first game, the enemy of the title, Don Paolo, disguises himself as Inspector Chelmey. The professor and Luke find out about his disguise and send him packing in the end of the game. In the beginning of the second game, Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, when approached by Chelmey Luke makes sure it's him by tugging at his face to make sure it's not a mask. In Professor Layton and the Last Specter, Emmy Altava meets him in London while looking through files for Professor Layton .
