Hokuto no Ken: Shin Seikimatsu Kyūseishu Densetsu (JP) is beat 'em up video game originally released for the Mega Drive. This was the second Fist of the North Star video game to be produced by Sega. It was re-released on the Wii Virtual Console in Japan.

Gameplay[]

The game is a two-dimensional horizontally sliding spike, with profile view, similar to a more advanced version of Kung-Fu Master. There is the parallax effect in the backgrounds. The player controls Kenshiro who, with bare hands, fights numerous minor enemies that come from both sides, even armed, and occasionally face one-on-one clashes with the bosses. The moves of the protagonist include jumping, lowering, spinning in various ways punches and kicks. The special shots of Ken cause the affected enemies to explode with abundant sketches of blood.

The game is subdivided into layers, and a map of the current chapter is shown, where the player can decide on the next destination between multiple linked sites. Usually the levels are linear, on flat ground, but there are also some labyrinth schemas, made of corridors with obstacles to jump and dive.

Defeating enemies builds up a power bar to make the protagonist more powerful. Obviously the swelling of her body is visible and she remains naked torso, acquiring in particular the ability to spin repetition. In certain places, the player can also encounter allied characters from which to get information and energy recharges.

Story[]

The game story line is based off the Imperial Capital and the Asura arcs from the Fist of the North Star manga (the portions which were adapted for the Hokuto no Ken 2 anime series).
