Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley is a game by Natsume for the Nintendo 3DS. This game is the first Harvest Moon game developed independently of the original developers at Marvelous. As such, the game looks very different and has numerous gameplay changes.

Gameplay

The farming aspect of the game is greatly different from past iterations. Instead of being given a lot to grow the farm, the player must go into the valley and carve out the land a la Minecraft to make their farm.

A major gameplay mechanic is restoring the seasons. As the player restores the seasons, more villagers come and more opens up to the players.

The marriage mechanic returns from the rest of series acting mainly the same.

Plot

One day, while hiking in the mountains, the player gets trapped by an unexpected snowstorm. When the player awakens, the player finds and helps a kindly Harvest Sprite buried under the snow, who tells the player all of the seasons in the valley have vanished except for winter. To return all 4 seasons to the valley, the player will need the help of the villagers, the Harvest Sprites, the Harvest Goddess, and even the King of the Underworld.
