Kirby and Super Smash Bros. series
In the Kirby and Super Smash Bros. series, Kirby would be able to use a hammer to attack enemies. The actions Kirby would do while using the hammer are very similar in each series. In the Super Smash Bros. series, the ability originated in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and went on to appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl too.
The Legend of Zelda series
Super Mario series
The hammer in the Mario series was first introduced in Donkey Kong in the arcades. When Mario obtaimed a hammer in the game, he would continuously pound the ground, thus destroying any oncoming obstacles. It later appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3, where Mario or Luigi would be able to throw them as projectiles at their enemies. The hammer has also appeared in every Mario RPG, where it is a common weapon for Mario to use.
