Nintendo

HM08 (or Hidden Machine 08) is able to permanently teach a Pokémon a move for use outside of battles. In the first and second generation of games there were only five and seven hidden machines and HM08 made its debut in the Third generation allowing a Pokémon to learn Dive (as well as in Mystery Dungeon). In fourth generation it allows for a Pokémon to learn Rock Climb. It is not featured in the fifth generation of games.
