Golf Story is a golf-oriented role-playing for Nintendo Switch. Similar to Mario Golf for the Game Boy Color and Mario Golf: Advance Tour, the game is a top-down sprite based game that uses golf mechanics to progress through the game.
Gameplay[]
The game uses golf as its primary action. On top of challenges revolving around normal golf, the player will also be using golf skills to acquire secrets and solve puzzles. The player travels around the the world discovering new areas, towns and courses. The player can also acquire equipment and upgrades to improve their golfing.
On top of normal golf, the game features disc golf, minigolf and drone piloting.

Stats[]
While traversing the game and completing quests, the player will be awarded points. Upon receiving enough points, a level-up dialog will appear and offer options to spend points in 5 different categories:
- Power - Adding points increases the average yardage of the player's drive.
- Purity - This determines how true your shot will be to what you want and will negate negative spin in the event the player doesn't line up the second gauge perfectly. If negative, ball strays left, if positive, ball strays right. Ball stays centered when "essentially pure."
- Strike - Adding points will help to negate negative effects from the player inaccurately lining up the first gauge.
- Ability - Adding points increases influence of hit point mode input (X button). Closely related to spin stat.
- Spin - Adding points increases your ball's rotations per minute (RPM). This will permit more distance with top spin and more control with backspin.
Adding points to the power stat will result in decaying levels of purity, strike, ability and spin over time. It is generally best to keep all meters within center regions.
