When they are ready to lay their eggs, many of them can be seen swimming up rivers in large and expansive groups. They are very strong swimmers that can swim nonstop, even up stream at 5 knots. The large horn on its head is very dangerous, and could even kill a person. If you put a Goldeen in an aquarium, it has the ability to crash through the glass that it's contained in, no matter how thick the glass is. According to the video games, the unique fish has earned the nickname "The Water Queen", which fits the Pokémon well considering their name.

You'll find a Goldeen in one of the many Pokéballs that you can use while playing. Sadly, Goldeen is the most useless Pokémon in the game since it only uses the move splash, which has no effect what so ever. A Goldeen blimp can also be seen on the Pokéfloats stage, though any one who lands on it will ensure an instant K.O. seeing that right when it goes up it goes right back down.
Trophy descriptions
In the anime
In the anime, Misty, one of the show's most notable characters, caught a Goldeen in episode 2. However, the trainer does not use it much, seeing that it can only be useful in the water.
