Gogoat(JP) is a species of Pokémon in the series of the same name. It is a Grass-type Pokémon that made its first appearance in the Pokémon anime episode The Journalist from Another Region! before debuting in the games in the sixth generation games Pokémon X and Y. It evolves from the Pokémon Skiddo at level 32.
Physiology and Behavior[]
Gogoat is a quadrupedal, hooved Pokémon similar to a goat. The fur on its face is white with fluffier fur on the chin and the back of its head is dark brown. It has a black nose, red eyes encircled by black markings, a brown blaze down the middle of its face, and rounded ears. On top of its head is a pair of curving black horns that extend over its back. It is covered in shaggy, brown fur that is darker across the back and lighter around the belly and legs. Around its neck is a thick, green leafy mane that extends down its back and ends in a short, bushy tail. The fur on its legs is shorter than the rest of its body; it is dark brown on the upper leg and white around the feet. Each foot ends in a cloven, brownish-orange hoof.
Gogoat is known to have empathic abilities that allow them to sense the feelings of whoever grips its horns. It does this by sensing subtle changes to the grip, and this ability is so acute that it can move as if it and its rider were one being. In the wild, Gogoat lives in herds in mountainous regions. The leader of the herd is decided through battles with its horns.
Appearances[]
Main Pokémon games[]
They first appeared in Pokémon X and Y. In addition to being able to be caught in the Friend Safari, they can be rode on in Lumiose City, though they can't be controlled except to be gotten off. Gogoat is the signature Pokémon of Coumarine City Gym Leader Ramos.
Other Pokémon games[]
Super Smash Bros. series[]
Gogoat appears as a Poké Ball Pokémon in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. When summoned, it starts charging across the stage using Take Down, damaging any opponent hit. It can also serve as a platform for all players. If Gogoat runs into a wall, it gets stunned for a moment.
Trophy Descriptions[]
In the anime[]
Gogoat debuted near the end of Pokémon the Series: Black and White, alongside Helioptile making them the first Sixth Pokémon generation to appear in the mainline anime, debuting in The Journalist from Another Region!. Both of them were owned by Alexa, a journalist from the Kalos region.
Like in the games, Gogoat is the signature Pokémon of Coumarine City Gym Leader Ramos.
Gogoat is featured in the Pokétoon episode Riding on Gogoat.
Origin and inspiration[]
Gogoat is based on a goat, possibly a bharal, dwarf bharal, bilberry, or ibex due to its horns, though they also resemble the horns of various gazelles and antelopes. It is also based on a motorcycle, as it can be ridden and has beach bar-like horns. The grass that grows upon it may originate from Pan or Faunus, gods of nature who are half-goat, half-human. The grass could also be a reference to the traditional yule goat figures in northern Europe made of hay.
