Ghosts 'n Goblins(JP) is a platform game developed by Capcom for video arcades and has since been released on several other platforms, including the Nintendo Entertainment System. This game is known for being a particularly difficult platformer, most notably because once the player defeats the Devil once, he says it's an illusion and the players would have to play though the game again, only the stages will be much harder. This was eventually ported to all virtual console platforms.
